I found a new one that is so subtle and so clever that I would have fallen for it. And I bet you would too! Why should we have to constantly keep "tabs" on our advisors?

The tips we pick up from our buddies at the golf course - though well meaning - are worthless. Or worse. They could be downright harmful.
Professionals?
We follow the advice of a few "brokers" and soon realize they are only pushing the stocks their company wants them to push. Plus, unless we have an incredibly large portfolio, chances are the "broker" that's been assigned to advise us, doesn't know any more than we do!
Not to mention that no matter what happens to the stock, they get their commissions. Whether or not we make any money really doesn't matter to them - just as long as we keep trading!
What to do...what to do.
Then (queue the harp music and choir!) we get a letter in the mail. It's announcing a brand new "Stock Investment Newsletter" that promises to help us select our stocks. They do ALL the work, we only have to devote just a few minutes a month (reading their advice)! They promise to tell us exactly what to buy, exactly when to buy it and exactly when to sell it! No wiggle room there!
We get a good laugh out of that one! Isn't there some sort of saying about not having just fallen off the turnip truck? (I wonder...has anyone EVER really fallen off a turnip truck? And even if they did, why would that make them naive? Hmmm...Life's little mysteries.)
Anyway, they offer a one month subscription - FREE! Not only that, but we get the "Diamond" level subscription which gives us a new edition every week - not just the normal once a month edition that all the regular schlubs get. Why? We're special!
Well, that's good...at least they have confidence in their product!
Why not? We figure there's nothing to lose if we send in the card (they don't want any money) and at least we can follow their trades on paper. Who knows, maybe we'll learn something!
So, we send in the FREE SUBSCRIPTION card.
We wait and wait, finally we get the first issue. They tell us in no uncertain terms exactly what to buy AND exactly when to sell it! So...we paper trade their pick and SUCCESS! It went up as predicted!
Pretty cool, but it may have been just luck.
The next week rolls around - they pick out a stock and advise us to sell short. So, we do. On paper. Sure enough, we paper sold when they said to, paper held the prescribed time and paper bought the stock back when advised. Shazaam! It worked. We made a ton of money!
On paper.
Week three and four - the same! we follow their trades exactly as prescribed and...100% success! All four weeks!

decide to subscribe...
Stick around long enough, you'll get cleaned out and - worse - it may not even be illegal!
